Juvéderm™ is a "next-generation" filler. JUVEDERMTM Ultra and Ultra Plus injectable gel is a colorless hyaluronic acid gel that is injected into facial tissue to smooth wrinkles and folds, primarily around the nose and mouth. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occuring sugar found in the human body that may diminish with age, contributing to the formation of wrinkles and folds. The role of hyaluronic acid in the skin is to deliver nutrients, hydrate the skin by holding in water, and to act as a cushioning agent. Juvéderm™ injectable gel works to correct this by restoring hyaluronic acid in your skin, helping to smooth wrinkles and folds. Benefits Juvéderm™ offers many benefits including: A more youthful appearance to skin. Minimize moderate lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. Add volume and definition to lips, producing a more pronounced pout. Results are natural looking and long lasting. Cost is affordable. Quick and easy treatment. Low risk of side effects. Results last up to 1 year. Areas to be treated • Creases, deep folds, and light wrinkles • Nasolabial Folds (Smile lines) • Marionette Lines (Oral Commissures) • Lips (for extra volume) Up Close Frequently Asked Questions How does it work? Prior to administering the injections, you and the doctor will discuss if a local anesthetic will be used to numb the treatment area. Juvéderm™ is injected along the area that is to be filled in, while the hyaluronic acid molecules that make up the most important part of the filler naturally draw in water and cause the tissue beneath the lines to swell. This immediately fills out wrinkles to give the skin a smoother surface. How long does it take? The entire Juvéderm™ procedure takes approximately 20 minutes. When will I see the results? Results can be seen immediately following treatment. Some swelling may occur which will subside post treatment. What is recommended post treatment? Juvéderm™ aftercare is simple and does not generally interfere with the daily routines of patients. Patients should avoid excessive exercise and exposure to sunlight, as this might increase swelling and bruising at the injection site. Chemical peels, laser skin resurfacing, laser skin tightening, and other laser treatments should be avoided. Post-treatment pain should be minimal, and a common complaint among those who have had Juvéderm™ treatments is swelling. Healing time varies from person to person, but the use of ice will minimize any swelling at the injections sites. How long do the results last? Juvéderm™ can last up to one year, significantly longer than other cosmetic fillers. What happens to the filler? Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in the human body, it will be absorbed back into the body over time, and the effects of Juvéderm™ will diminish. |
